Unmolested Spa Yellow Pearl S2000 (under 4,000 produced in that color, and who knows how many left unmodified) next to a ZDX (7,200 sold) together at the Home Depot of all places.

A guy on the road below me has a pearl white ZDX. I look at it when I walk my dog. Pretty sure I’ve had it in my DOTS posts. I wonder if they are comfortable.

Sometimes I think I should get a practical normal car, but then I think they’re all boring, and then I think about a ZDX being kinda stupid in a good way, while still basically a reliable MDX underneath. But apparently they have kinda worthless back seats which kills the appeal for me because I’d want it to still be practical while being stupid.

Was Spa Yellow Pearl the only yellow available on the S2000?

The main problem with the back seats is no headroom for adults. So I guess how practical it is depends on what you want to do with it. If it’s carrying kids or stuff with the seats folded it’s probably OK. Carrying coworkers to lunch probably not.

No, the AP2 facelift had Rio Yellow Pearl. It was a little darker and there were even fewer of them made. Maybe 3000 tops.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

You should try out the RDX Turbo, the turbo K23 motor is actually pretty great and it’s probably got as much cargo room as the ZDX with a lot less foot print.

that’d be a pretty good 2 car garage IMO

Drove one a while back. Good on paper but it’s ruined by the old 5-speed auto that’s always letting the motor fall out of boost. I drove it back to back with a Crosstour and actually preferred how the Crosstour drove. It’s also stupid but too ugly for me.

I would drive a ZDX with no problem

The main thing at this moment in my life that I can use a more practical car for is when we go visit my mother-in-law. She uses a walker and is a widow. Mysister-in-law is local to her town but we visit semi-often and take MIL to church and dinner. She rides in front and whichever of me or my wife isn’t driving rides in back. So I need to potentially fit my 5'11" self in the back.
Right now only my wife’s Impreza and not my thoroughly modded 335xi coupe is suitable for this scenario. My car is way too low for MAIL to easily get in and out of, the ride is too stiff, and I can juuust fit in back. But my wife doesn’t drive stick so she’d be in back, and she’s 5'9" with long legs so wouldn’t enjoy being back there.
So, any more-practical car for me would need to work for taking the MIL to church and dinner, or it wouldn’t really be more practical

If you like your 335i and want something more practical I have to say an X3 35i would be a great compromise. My dad has one and it is great, does 0-60 in 5 seconds, and once the warranty is up a tune is a possibility.

Last summer before I bought my 335xi, I seriously considered a CPO X3 35i M Sport. But they were about $10k more than E92 335xi’s. I spent the difference on a load of performance mods.
